Phạm, Ngọc Luy

Abstract

Phạm Ngọc Luy was the captain of the Trường Xuân, a cargo ship that he piloted to rescue over 3,000 fleeing Vietnamese refugees after the Fall of Saigon. As the ship sank on May 2, 1975, they appealed to the Danish ship, the Clara Maersk, and evacuated the passengers, many of whom ended up in Hong Kong refugee camps and applied for political asylum to Canada, Australia and the United States.
