Wang, Jason

Abstract

Jason Wang, an Asian American studies major at UT Austin, describes how he became interested in Vietnamese American history by participating in an oral history project that he conducted as part of a course on Vietnamese Americans taught by Dr. Linda Ho Peche for the Center for Asian American Studies. He was later involved as a volunteer for the Vietnamese American Heritage Foundation. He applied to the Clinton Global Initiative to conduct more Vietnamese American oral histories in collaboration with uNAVSA (The Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations). He also explains how having a humanities background has been an asset in medical school in El Paso, Texas.
